Jonathan Smith was born in Atlanta, GA and at an early age his family moved to St. Simons Island, GA where he grew up and attended school at Glynn Academy. He got his first taste of construction during high school summers, when he worked with his uncle and cousin building several spec homes in North Georgia. Mostly he walked around with a broom and shovel cleaning up messes that his uncle and cousin made. If he was lucky he got fed lunch and took a few bucks home with him at the end of the day. He learned about hard work and the not so glamorous side of the world of home building.
After high school, he enlisted in the US Marines and attended boot camp at Parris Island, SC, graduating as Company honor graduate. He went on to serve honorably with the Marine Security Force Battalion, Atlantic. Mr. Smith Attended the local community college in Brunswick, GA after being honorably discharged. He obtained an Assoc. of Science from Brunswick College before leaving to attend Georgia Southern University majoring in Biology and Chemistry. While attending college Mr. Smith worked for a small construction company on St. Simons and learned a great deal about most of the trades involved in the construction of homes and commercial buildings. After College he moved to Jacksonville, FL where he worked for a mortgage bank and a building materials supply company. Mr. Smith took a job in Charleston, SC where he worked as a Site Superintendent and asst. project manager for a very successful contracting company primarily engaged in Dept. of Defense work. Mr. Smith oversaw projects ranging in value from the smallest of tens-of-thousands to multi-million dollar contracts, and was routinely asked to oversee jobs that were remote and mostly self managed. After 9 successful years with a great company Mr. Smith was offered a position as a construction division manager with a private equity firm in Jacksonville, FL. Successfully managing the department until the firm discontinued their investment plan in the Northeast, FL region, Mr. Smith went on to work with several local general contractors providing project management, estimating and subcontracting negotiations on behalf of the contractors he worked beside. Mr. Smith obtained his General Contractor's license and is now offering his services and wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the construction services industry to Northeast, FL, the Caribbean, and soon to the Coastal regions of Georgia from the FL/GA line to Tybee Island. |
